DBM – the first Australian research agency to gain the SOC2 accreditation

MEDIA RELEASE: 11 September 2019: With data security risks an ever-present and increasingly potential danger in industries that handle customer data, DBM undertook an extensive assessment and enhancement program of the company infrastructure and systems. We are proud to announce that on 1 July 2019 DBM Consultants became the first Australian market research agency to achieve SOC2 (System and Organisational Controls) accreditation. 

The SOC2 certification is subject to a rigorous independent audit and awarded by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants [AICPA] to certify that its Trust Principles relevant to security, availability, processing integrity, and confidentiality / privacy are in place and have operated effectively over a period of time at DBM.  

SOC2 is one of the most sought-after standards in security and compliance. Achieving this accreditation recognises the highest degree of excellence in systems and operations control.

To earn the accreditation, DBM had to be assessed on the efficacy of our control environment, risk assessment and mitigation, monitoring activities, logical and physical access.  The assessment also included our handling of information and communication. SOC2 required the implementation of well-defined policies, procedures, and practices — not just ticking the right compliance checkboxes

SOC2 is in addition to DBM’s market research industry standard ISO 20252 accreditation, which ensures project and program replicability.  SOC2 certification focuses on ensuring that the security of information measures are in line with the parameters of today’s requirements with the right long term obligation to maintaining internal practices, specifically when applied to customer data.

DBM can now provide greater assurance of compliance with the highest possible standards of data control and management. The independent review, adoption of best-practices and on-going commitment certifies DBM as a trustworthy and dependable manager of customer data over the long term.
