MEDIA RELEASE: 19 November 2020: Lewers Research has released its 14th Community Response Now report into the health, social, economic and behavioural impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This report is looking to the future – on the impact of COVID-19 on Christmas spending, on the eagerness to see brands and corporations invest in the local economy, and the permanent changes to our approach to health and each other in times of crisis.
“Even as we write, the COVID situation is changing. A small outbreak in SA has significantly changed the outlook there and across the country. Here in Victoria we were celebrating a string of “double donut days” while South Australians were suddenly facings a strict lockdown and all the uncertainty that brings. The hotel quarantine system is again being debated in the media.
“Recognition Australia is ahead of the world yet still Australians remain mixed in sentiments, but now slightly more positive than negative about the future. The nearly 4 in 10 still concerned, uncertain on the vaccine and economy and quarantine once borders are fully opened.”
