We are seeking an exceptional Research Consultant or Senior Research Consultant to be responsible for the coordination of administrative and project management activities required to support the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) and other related projects.

We are seeking an exceptional Research Consultant or Senior Research Consultant to be responsible for the coordination of administrative and project management activities required to support the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) and other related projects.

The position has a strong customer service focus and requires excellent stakeholder management skills, an ability to problem solve, an understanding of research processes, commitment to high levels of attention to detail and an ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and policy, practice and research communities.

This role also has a strong focus on assisting with provision of data access services and documentation management.

This is a permanent, full-time position and will be based at our Melbourne CBD office with hybrid work arrangements available (working some days in the office and some from home). A suitable home workspace and reliable internet connection are required to work from home.

Applications from people based beyond Melbourne are welcome as, for the right candidate, a remote-based work arrangement with occasional travel to our Melbourne office will also be considered.

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Client and stakeholder liaison, including being the initial point of contact for queries and actively maintaining client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Project management, including maintenance of project schedules, updating project specifications, working collaboratively with internal teams.
  • Fieldwork preparation and management for the AEDC (collection every 3 years), working with the web development team to set up the online platform, performing, system testing, monitoring field progress and overseeing helpdesk function.
  • Over time, become a support role for data management administration.
  • Technical reporting .

To be successful in this role you will also have:

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to high levels of customer service.
  • Collegiate, consultative approach to working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Understanding of research management processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated high level computer skills, particularly MS Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated experience editing websites and website content viewed favourably.
  • Demonstrated numeracy and analytical skills.
  • At least three years’ experience working in a process driven role.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
