MEDIA RELEASE: May 5 2021: South Australia’s largest independent market research company, McGregor Tan, has announced the appointment of new CEO Stephen Gilmour to lead the firm into the next phase of growth.
Gilmour brings high-level national and international market research experience to McGregor Tan which was founded some 45 years ago in 1976. He joins from national insights and strategy firm Metrix Consulting where he was National Client Services Director for five years. Gilmour is a social research specialist whose experience also includes spells with Kantar and Lonergan Research. He has designed, managed, and implemented a broad range of local, state and federal government agency projects initiatives across Australia including the development of a nationally consistent Fire Danger Rating and Warnings system. Gilmour is also a specialist in the Indigenous consultation space where he has conducted over 1000 face-to-face interviews in indigenous communities across Australia for BHP, Woodside and various federal and state government departments.
McGregor Tan Managing Director Tom Hannon-Tan said that the appointment of Stephen Gilmour brings a high and diverse level of national and international experience to the company that will broaden its client base and position it favourably to attract new clients by leveraging innovative research capability.
“We have found in Stephen the skills and experience that will help differentiate us in the SA and national market,” explained Mr. Hannon-Tan.
“Stephen also has a role to play in training and mentoring our staff which will fill skills gaps and strengthen our ability to deliver exceptional client outcomes,” added Mr. Hannon-Tan.
McGregor Tan is based in Adelaide and employs 25 permanent staff as well as a host of casual staff as required.
Gilmour is looking forward to repositioning the McGregor Tan brand as more than just a traditional research company by reinforcing its consulting and advisory capabilities.
