Dr Clifford Lewis one of MRS Research Heroes 2022

MEDIA RELEASE: July 4 2022: The Market Research Society (MRS) has today announced that 28 individuals have won the accolade of Research Hero for 2022. They include representatives from within the global research community including from USA, Australia, India, Canada, Poland and the UK.

Heroes come from both client and agency side, and have been nominated because they have given exceptional service to the sector or helped others during the pandemic and beyond. The Research Heroes programme was originally devised to celebrate individuals who do not necessarily qualify for our normal professional recognitions, such as Fellowships but have gone above and beyond.

Australian academic Dr Clifford Lewis has joined the cadre of Research Heroes 2022. Clifford is a marketing academic at Charles Stuart University and his work focuses on inclusive marketing and research practice focusing on LGBTQIA+ people. He was nominated for calling for “a more nuanced and sensitive approach to research which considers the diversity encapsulated under the LGBTQIA+ acronym”.

I am pleased to be announced as one of the MRS’s Research Heroes in 2022. The award was based on my work on conducting sensitive and inclusive research with LGBTQIA+ people. I am particularly proud of MRS’s focus on inclusion in research and the guidelines and steps they have taken to redefine Nat Rep to be inclusive for people with diverse identities. I believe the future of research will be in our ability to meaningfully understand and represent the voices of diverse consumers. To do so, we need to respectfully and meaningfully engage with participants from all walks of life. Making research inclusive will help capture those voices in an authentic manner.
